Short Range Certificate (SRC)
VHF/DSC operation for safety and compliance
The RYA SRC (Short Range Certificate) is mandatory for Commercial Endorsement and for anyone operating fixed or handheld VHF aboard. The radio is a critical safety tool at sea—knowing the correct procedures and protocols is essential. SRC is the minimum legal qualification to operate VHF and DSC (Digital Selective Calling). The course runs online, while the exam in Rome includes a written paper plus a practical on simulators.
